Watercolours and calligraphy in Vitaly Shapovalov’s unique artworks

Calligraphy, Water, And Chance, a one-man exhibition by a world-renowned Russian calligraphy master Vitaly Shapovalov opened today, on September 12th, at the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy. The whole exposition of the museum is devoted to the most significant works of the artist created over the last years.

March 29th, 2010 the national and international community of calligraphers has suffered a dramatic loss: Ilya Trofimovich Bogdesko, a member of the National Association of Calligraphic Arts, a participant of the International Calligraphic Exhibition, a highly recognized calligrapher, a People’s Artist of the USSR and a full-fledged Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, has passed away.

The Third day of the International Calligraphic Exhibition was linked with a vivid event that was a joint master-class of Petr Petrovich Chobitko, Chairman of the National Union of Calligraphers and his student Olga Varlamova.

The subject of the master-class was the peculiarity of writing ancient canon, semi-canon, cursive and semi-canon cursive with a broad-end instrument — such as reed, pen and brush.

Presentation of the first and unique handwritten Constitution of the Russian Federation

On 11th September 2008 at 12.00 at the press-centre of PH AiF the first and unique handwritten Constitution of the Russian Federation was presented.

This project is a result of collective efforts made by team of calligraphers and editors at the head with a Presidium Chairman of National Union of Calligraphers Petr Petrovich Chobitko. Russian handwritten Constitution is a part of socially educative forum International Calligraphic Exhibition.

The Project is supported by public and governmental organizations

Less than a week is left till the 'cultural capital' of Russia, St. Petersburg, will welcome the International Exhibition of Calligraphy, which is organized by MVK Exhibition Company and the National Union of Calligraphy. Despite this ancient art having been long forgotten in Russia, public interest in the project proves that it is in demand and keeps pace with the times.
