A message to Alexander Pushkin

The key objective of the museum-reserve is to restore the interest for the epistolary genre as an significant culture and historical heritage of the past. The aims of the project “Museum Mail” are the same as those of the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy and project International Exhibition of Calligraphy. We couldn’t help accepting the proposal of the Mikhailovskoye Museum-Reserve to participate in the project programme.

The competition welcomed participation of common museum-goers and personnel of Moscow and local museums. The participants were excited and involved into the lessons of beautiful writing and intricacies of handwriting of the Pushkin era from calligrapher Yury Koverdyayev.

There at the stand it was possible to send a congratulation letter for Pushkin to the Museum-reserve. The letters were collected by the post clerks wearing the uniform of the Pushkin epoch and put into a special post box.

We hope our cooperation with the State Museum-reserve Mikhailovskoye will not be limited to the event but will continue in future.
