Director of the
Contemporary museum of calliraphy Alexey Shaburov and President of the
National Union of Calligraphers Petr Chobitko held a meeting with the Chairman of the Holy Synod Department for Church and Public Relations, Very Reverend archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin in Danilov Monastery. In the course of the meeting they touched upon the large and exciting work which has already been done in the context of the project.
Alexey Shaburov made a special emphasis on the programme of the
II International Exhibition of Calligraphy which will be organized under the aegis of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO with support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation (Moscow, October 14 – November 14, 2009). The show is organized by the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy in cooperation with the National Union of Calligraphers and assistance of MVK International Exhibition Company.
The open competition “Holy Script in Calligraphy” planned as a part of the 2nd International Exhibition of Calligraphy for calligraphers from multiple countries aroused particular interest of Very Reverend Vsevolod Chaplin. Besides, in 2010 the museum plans to hold the same-theme competition among children and teenagers during the Days of Slavonic Script and Sculpture (May 2010).
Calligraphy is based on solid spiritual grounds, and a plethora of calligraphers advert to the classical canons of Orthodox art.
In the course of the meeting the exhibition organizers got verbal assurance of the exhibition and calligraphic competition support from the managing staff of the Holy Synod Department for Church and Public Relations.
The meeting participants also discussed possibility of partnership cooperation of the two organizations concerning mental and moral upbringing of the younger generation.
