Achyut Palav – a participant of the International exhibition of calligraphy – recently opened a Calligraphy school. We see it as a good step on the road to developing calligraphy in India.
Master
The education programmes are all based on rich cultural traditions of Indian calligraphy.
Art motivations
The students are offered courses of various intensity and length. So, if one would like to learn the grammar of calligraphy he may choose between the “Devanagari scripts” course (Hindi and Marathi), and “Roman scripts” (English). These lessons last for 2 hours and should be attended 3 times a week.
Step by step
Those who are not free on working days may choose the same courses given on week-ends.
Beginner’s luck
On week days one may also attend the Indian scripts courses (Urdu is one of them), or foreign languages lessons – Japanese for example. Moreover, during a year everyone may attend the special courses on manuscripts which are the creative motivation for calligraphy… The school is added by a library and a store where one can buy different calligraphy materials.
Calligraphy lovers are storming the school
We heartily wish every success to Mr. Palav’s calligraphy school. Hope to see his lessons in Russia!
